Sony Group has reported a 32% year-on-year decline in gaming revenue within its Music segment for the second quarter of fiscal 2026, covering July to September. Revenue fell to ¥26.7 billion, with the category recording another substantial decline compared with the same period last year.
For the first half of fiscal 2026, covering April to September, revenue totalled ¥40.3 billion, down 38.2% from ¥65.3 billion during the corresponding period a year earlier.
The figures were disclosed by Sony Group on November 5, 2026, and reported by Japanese publication Gamebiz the following day. The gaming category is understood to include several titles operated by Aniplex, Sony’s entertainment subsidiary.
Fate/Grand Order and Other Aniplex Games Among the Titles
The games associated with this business include several well-known anime and entertainment franchises. Gamebiz listed the following titles:
- Fate/Grand Order
- Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Hinokami Chronicles 2
- Disney Twisted-Wonderland
- Puella Magi Madoka Magica Magia Exedra
- BIOHAZARD Survival Unit
- OCTOPinbs
However, Sony’s reported gaming revenue is not limited to mobile games. The category also includes revenue from PC games, console games and commissioned game development.
Sony has not disclosed individual sales figures for these titles. Therefore, the reported decline cannot be attributed to any particular game or franchise.
Sony’s Gaming Revenue Falls for a Second Consecutive Quarter
The latest results follow another substantial year-on-year decline in the previous quarter. The figures show that the gaming business within Sony’s Music segment has faced a difficult first half of fiscal 2026.

| Reporting period | Gaming revenue | Year-on-year change |
|---|---|---|
| July–September 2026 | ¥26.7 billion | -32.0% |
| April–September 2026 | ¥40.3 billion | -38.2% |
The figures represent the gaming category within Sony’s Music segment, rather than the company’s overall gaming business or PlayStation revenue.
Although games operated by Aniplex form a major part of the category, the results cover a wider range of gaming activities. Sony’s disclosure does not provide a breakdown of how much each title or business contributed to the decline.
The latest financial results offer a look at the performance of Sony’s anime- and entertainment-related gaming portfolio, including titles such as Fate/Grand Order and Disney Twisted-Wonderland. Further individual game performance figures have not been disclosed.
