As a hardcore fan or a newbie in the world of Anime, everyone has a question about whether you should watch a filler episode or not, some people like it and some people hate it but first, we should know what is a filler episode. A filler episode is added in an anime series to allow the corresponding manga to get further ahead in its story and give the anime more material to adapt. Well, that’s a main and acceptable reason. But sometimes fillers are added to give a proper adaptation of the main story to understand it properly as it becomes more enjoyable to watch it or to introduce the main characters or side characters for further story development.

Well, the studio mainly adds that filler episode in weekly anime ( i.e. the anime comes in every week ) because sometimes weekly episodes catch up with the manga and have no resources for the upward main story. So the studio has no other option than to add some filler story to the anime just for the manga to go forward and afterwards animate it while having the main story.

Well, I have two Perspectives or opinions on that.

First: Why We Shouldn’t Watch Filler episode!

  1. It makes the reputation down:
    • Why because some anime only depends on filler while having enough resources to continue the anime. they just want money from the branding of their anime. in my thought, Boruto is a good example of it.
  2. Waste of time:
    • Our time is valuable, and spending it on filler episodes can be seen as a waste. Instead of engaging with the core narrative or exploring more meaningful content, viewers end up watching episodes that offer no lasting impact or relevance.
  3. Missed Opportunities for Storytelling:
    • Every moment in a series should be an opportunity to tell a compelling story or deepen our understanding of the characters. Filler episodes, however, miss these chances.

Second: Why We should watch the Filler episode!

  1. Comic Relief:
    • Filler episodes can provide much-needed humour and levity, serving as a break from the intensity of the main plot. They allow viewers to relax and enjoy lighter moments, adding variety to the viewing experience. well, anime like Gintama and The Life of Saiki are best to do so.
  2. Fan Service:
    • For dedicated fans of a series, filler episodes can offer a chance to see their favourite characters in different situations or costumes, catering to their fandom desires. well, most fillers which are based on fan service are some hentai anime.
  3. World-Building:
    • In some cases, filler episodes can expand on the fictional world of the series. They may introduce new locations, cultures, or aspects of the setting that enrich the overall narrative, making the fictional world feel more immersive

Well, I decide whether to watch filler episodes in anime based on how they fit into the overall story. If a filler adds value, like character development or interesting side stories, I’ll watch it. But if it seems unrelated or boring, I might skip it to save time and keep the main plot flowing smoothly. It’s all about balancing enjoyment and efficiency in my anime-watching experience.
