Marvel and Kadokawa have revealed new story details and concept art for their upcoming Marvel manga collaboration, including a brand-new Spider-Man from Shibuya and a new Spider-Gwen story.
The collaboration will feature five original manga titles, with the first works set to begin serialization on KadoComi before the end of 2026. Kadokawa has now revealed the creators and story premises for Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen, while also showing new concept art for Daredevil and Punisher.
Unlike Peter Parker, Marvel’s new Japanese Spider-Man will be Haruto Hachidori, a high school student living in Shibuya who suddenly develops mysterious spider abilities.
Marvel’s New Spider-Man Is A High School Student From Shibuya
The upcoming Spider-Man manga will be created by tokitokoro, who has previously worked on Jeff the Land Shark for Marvel.
The manga’s Japanese title has not been finalized yet.
The story follows Haruto Hachidori, a high school student living in Shibuya, who suddenly acquires mysterious spider powers.
Haruto begins using his abilities as Spider-Man, swinging through the streets and skyline of Shibuya. However, his new powers also seem to awaken something else lurking beneath the city.
The official story description teases a mysterious “shadow” hidden within Shibuya that begins to move alongside Haruto’s activities as Spider-Man.
This version of Spider-Man is therefore being created specifically for the Marvel × Kadokawa manga project, rather than simply retelling Peter Parker’s established origin.
Who Is Marvel’s New Spider-Man?
Haruto Hachidori is the protagonist of the new Spider-Man manga.
He is described as a male high school student living in Shibuya who suddenly gains unexplained spider abilities. After becoming Spider-Man, Haruto travels across the city using his powers while an unknown threat emerges from beneath Shibuya.
The project gives Marvel’s iconic superhero a distinctly Japanese setting, placing Spider-Man’s story directly within one of Tokyo’s most recognizable districts.
The manga is being illustrated by tokitokoro, whose Marvel work includes Jeff the Land Shark.
Spider-Gwen Manga Will Introduce A New Gwen Stacy
Kadokawa has also revealed new details about its upcoming Spider-Gwen manga, which will be illustrated by Ryusei Yamada.
The Japanese title has not yet been finalized.
This version of Gwen Stacy is an ordinary high school student who plays drums in a band called the Mary Janes.
Her life changes when she is bitten by a radioactive spider inside a laboratory, granting her superhuman abilities.
Gwen ultimately chooses to use her powers to protect her city as Spider-Woman, but becoming a hero will force her to deal with difficult choices and personal conflicts.
The premise retains some of the familiar foundations associated with Spider-Gwen while introducing the character through a new manga interpretation.
Spider-Gwen Will Be Drawn By Ryusei Yamada
The new Spider-Gwen manga will be created by Ryusei Yamada, who has worked on projects including the Revenger manga adaptation and Disney Twisted-Wonderland: The Manga—Anthology.
Yamada previously contributed artwork to Marvel’s MARVEL SWIMSUIT SPECIAL, where he illustrated Captain Marvel.
The upcoming manga will give Yamada the opportunity to build a new interpretation of Gwen Stacy and her superhero identity within the Marvel × Kadokawa universe.
Daredevil And Punisher Concept Art Also Revealed
Marvel and Kadokawa have also released new concept artwork for Daredevil and Punisher as part of the broader collaboration.
The project had previously teased Japanese versions of Marvel characters, with the creators suggesting ideas such as a Daredevil operating in Shinjuku and a Yakuza-inspired Punisher.
However, detailed story information for these two characters has not yet been revealed.
Their appearances are part of the broader five-title initiative that Marvel and Kadokawa are developing for the Japanese manga market.
Marvel And Kadokawa Are Creating Five Original Manga
The Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen projects are only the beginning.

All five titles are scheduled to begin serialization within 2026.

Marvel’s Japanese Manga Partnership Comes At A Major Turning Point
The Marvel × Kadokawa project arrives as Marvel continues expanding its focus on manga and Asian-original storytelling.
Marvel previously worked with Shueisha on several manga featuring Marvel characters, including Deadpool: Samurai, Spider-Man: Octo-Girl, Spider-Man: Kizuna and Secret Reverse.
However, Shueisha’s agreement with Walt Disney Japan for Marvel manga ended on September 30, 2026, bringing those particular publishing arrangements to a close.
Earlier in 2026, Marvel also announced that C.B. Cebulski, who had served as Marvel’s Editor-in-Chief, would move into a new role overseeing Asia Originals. Stephen Wacker subsequently became Marvel’s new Editor-in-Chief.
The new Kadokawa partnership therefore represents another major step in Marvel’s efforts to develop original stories around its characters for Asian manga audiences.
When Will The Marvel And Kadokawa Manga Launch?
The first Marvel × Kadokawa manga titles are expected to begin serialization on KadoComi before the end of 2026.
At present, Kadokawa has not announced the exact launch dates for the Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen manga.
Their official Japanese titles are also still undecided.
Further details about the remaining three manga projects are expected to be revealed as the collaboration progresses.
Marvel Is Bringing Spider-Man To Shibuya
The Marvel × Kadokawa collaboration is giving some of Marvel’s most recognizable characters new manga identities and settings.
With Haruto Hachidori’s Spider-Man swinging through Shibuya, a new Spider-Gwen following Gwen Stacy’s journey as Spider-Woman, and concept art already revealed for Daredevil and Punisher, the five-title project is shaping up to be a significant new chapter in Marvel’s manga collaborations.
The first titles are expected to arrive on KadoComi before the end of 2026, with more information on the remaining projects still to come.
