Kaiju No. 8 will conclude its anime adaptation with a theatrical movie in 2027, marking the end of the anime series following its first two seasons. The announcement also revealed a new super teaser visual featuring a mysterious giant kaiju and a chilling tagline: “The age of humanity comes to an end.”
The upcoming film, titled Kaiju No. 8: The Movie (Gekijoban Kaiju No. 8), will bring the anime’s story to its conclusion on the big screen. The announcement was made on October 24, 2026, during a dedicated Kaiju No. 8 event in Tachikawa, Japan.
The anime’s final chapter was first announced at Jump Festa 2026 in December 2025. However, the latest update confirms that the concluding story will take the form of a theatrical film rather than another TV anime season.
Kaiju No. 8 Final Chapter Will Be A Movie In 2027
The official announcement confirms that Kaiju No. 8 will end with a movie scheduled to premiere in Japanese theaters in 2027.
The film will continue the story following the conclusion of the anime’s second season in September 2025. While the announcement does not provide an exact release date, the movie is being presented as the final installment of the anime adaptation.
The announcement also released a new super teaser visual, created by Shinji Kimura, who served as the art director for the TV anime:
The visual depicts a mysterious, enormous kaiju looming over a devastated landscape, suggesting an unprecedented threat to humanity. Its tagline reads:
“The age of humanity comes to an end.”
The image also evokes the threat posed by Kaiju No. 9, who absorbed Isao Shinomiya and flew away after declaring that the age of kaiju had begun.
The film is expected to bring the conflict between the Defense Force and Kaiju No. 9’s plans to its conclusion.

“After the broadcasts of Seasons 1 and 2, we’ve enjoyed the anime Kaiju No. 8 together with all of you.
And finally, in 2027, this story will reach its conclusion with a movie!
Next year is also the year I’ll turn 32, the same age as Kafka. I can’t help feeling that there’s something fated about bringing this final chapter to life at this particular time…!
Right up to the very end, I’ll give everything I’ve got to bring this beloved work to life alongside my favourite character, Kafka Hibino, and Kaiju No. 8. Thank you for your continued support!”
Fukunishi’s comment adds a personal touch to the announcement, as he points out that he will reach the same age as Kafka in the year the anime concludes.
The voice actor also expressed his determination to help bring the series to a satisfying conclusion for fans.
