The upcoming second season of The Detective Is Already Dead (Japanese Name: Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru., Also Known As: Tanmoshi) has released its second promotional video, giving fans another look at the sequel ahead of its long-awaited return this Fall.
The Detective Is Already Dead Season 2 (Japanese Title: Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru. Season 2) is officially scheduled to premiere in October 2026 after being delayed multiple times.
Animation production is once again handled by Studio ENGI.
The newly released trailer teases the next chapter of the story, focusing on the mysteries surrounding Siesta’s past and the hidden truth that has yet to be revealed.
The official description for the new PV reads:
“The past that must be told, and the hidden truth. How will Kimizuka and the others carry on the legacy of the legendary detective? Please look forward to the broadcast this October.”

About The Detective Is Already Dead
The Detective Is Already Dead (Japanese Name: Tantei wa Mou, Shindeiru., Also Known As: Tanmoshi) is a Japanese mystery romantic comedy light novel series written by Nigojū and illustrated by Umibōzu. The series began publication under MF Bunko J in 2019.
The series later received a television anime adaptation by Studio ENGI, which aired in 2021. Following its conclusion, a sequel was announced, with Season 2 now set to premiere in October 2026.
The story follows Kimihiko Kimizuka, a young man who constantly finds himself caught in troublesome situations. His life changes after becoming the assistant to the legendary detective Siesta, as the pair travel around the world solving impossible mysteries and saving countless lives. However, after Siesta’s unexpected death, Kimihiko must continue living while carrying on her legacy, as new mysteries begin to unfold around him.
