Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26, the anime anthology adapting eight one-shot manga stories by Chainsaw Man creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, has been nominated for the 54th International Emmy Awards in the Short-Form Series category.
The nomination was announced on September 23, 2026, with the official ceremony scheduled to take place on November 23 in New York City.
The news was confirmed by Avex Pictures, which participated in the project’s production committee as a leading company involved in planning, production and distribution.
Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26 Nominated For International Emmy Award
The International Emmy Awards are presented by the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences and recognize television programs produced and broadcast outside the United States.
For the 2026 edition, nominations were announced across 16 categories, featuring 64 productions from 22 countries.
The Short-Form Series category recognizes series made up of shorter episodes, with four productions selected as nominees. The winner will be announced during the 54th International Emmy Awards ceremony on November 23.
Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26 represents Japan in the category following the international attention surrounding its unique approach to adapting Fujimoto’s early manga works.
Anime Adapts Eight One-Shot Manga Stories
Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26 adapts eight one-shot manga stories that Fujimoto created between the ages of 17 and 26. The stories are collected in the two manga volumes Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 17–21 and Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man: 22–26.
The anime explores a variety of genres, themes and creative ideas, with each story receiving its own adaptation.
The eight works included in the project are:
- The Garden of Eden (Niwa ni wa Niwa Niwatori ga Ita.) — A story about the bond between two survivors in a world where humanity has gone extinct.
- Sasaki Stopped a Bullet (Sasaki-kun ga Jūdan Tometa) — A story centered on explosive adolescent impulses.
- Love Is Blind (Koi wa Mōmoku) — A science-fiction romantic comedy in which feelings of love spiral to a cosmic scale.
- Shikaku — A story about the reckless love of an unhinged assassin girl.
- Mermaid Rhapsody (Ningyo Rhapsody) — A romance between a boy and a mermaid connected through a piano beneath the sea.
- The Illness of Becoming a Girl Overnight (Me ga Sametara Onnanoko ni Natteta Yamai) — A story about discovering one’s identity beyond traditional gender boundaries.
- Nayuta of the Prophecy (Yogen no Nayuta) — A story about the recovery of siblings burdened by a harsh destiny.
- Sisters (Imōto no Ane) — A story about jealousy, conflict and growth between sisters who dedicate themselves to art.
The anthology allows each story to explore a different aspect of Fujimoto’s storytelling, ranging from romance and science fiction to identity, family and human survival.
Seven Directors And Six Animation Studios Worked On The Anime
One of the major creative features of Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26 is its collaborative production structure.
The eight stories were divided among seven directors and six animation studios, allowing different creative teams to approach Fujimoto’s works through their own visual and directorial styles.
The participating animation studios include:
- ZEXCS
- Lapintrack
- GRAPH77
- 100studio
- Studio Kafka
- P.A.WORKS
The directors involved include Tetsuaki Watanabe, known for directing Blue Lock; Nobuyuki Takeuchi, who worked on Fireworks; and Kazuaki Terasawa, director of The Ancient Magus’ Bride Season 2.
The project’s production coordination was handled by FLAGSHIP LINE, with the anime produced by the Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26 production committee.
Anime Has Received International Recognition Before Emmy Nomination
The International Emmy nomination follows other international recognition for individual works included in the anthology.
Shikaku won the Audience Award in the Short Film Competition at the Bucheon International Animation Festival.
Meanwhile, The Garden of Eden was officially selected for the Midnight Short Film Competition at the 2026 Annecy International Animation Film Festival, one of the world’s most prominent animation festivals.
These achievements have helped bring additional attention to the anthology and its different interpretations of Fujimoto’s early manga stories.
Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26 Cast And Release Details
The anime features a diverse voice cast, including:

Tatsuki Fujimoto 17–26 began its worldwide exclusive streaming release on Prime Video on November 8, 2025.
A Blu-ray release is scheduled for September 30, 2026.
The International Emmy Awards nomination adds another major milestone to the project, which brings together eight early works from one of Japan’s most internationally recognized manga creators.
The winner of the Short-Form Series category will be announced during the awards ceremony in New York on November 23.
