The hit South Korean animated music project Alien Stage is officially getting an anime adaptation.
The announcement was made during Anime Expo 2026, where the newly launched ALIEN STAGE The Animation Official X (formerly Twitter) account confirmed that the anime series is now in production. The account was also launched alongside the announcement. At the moment, no release date, animation studio, staff members, or cast have been revealed.
Alien Stage is an original multimedia project created by VIVINOS in collaboration with QMENG and produced by STUDIO LICO. First released on YouTube in 2022, the series tells its story through animated music videos set in a dystopian world where humanity has been conquered by aliens. Humans are forced to compete in a deadly singing competition known as Alien Stage, where losing often means death.
Despite being told almost entirely through animated music videos, Alien Stage has become a global phenomenon with millions of fans thanks to its emotional storytelling, cinematic animation, memorable soundtrack, and heartbreaking character relationships.
The story follows contestants including Mizi, Sua, Till, Ivan, Hyuna, and Luka, whose rivalries, friendships, and tragic fates have made them fan favorites over the past few years.
The official announcement did not reveal whether the anime will retell the existing story or continue it with new content. More information, including the animation studio, staff, release window, and additional visuals, is expected to be announced in the future.
