The creators of Make Heroine wo Katasetai!! (English name: I Want the Losing Heroine to Win!!) have announced that the manga’s serialization on Akita Shoten’s Champion Cross will end immediately, with publication of the series also coming to a halt.
In a joint statement released by original creator Michiru Nakayama and artist Tatsuwaipu, the pair said they made the decision after concluding that it had become difficult to maintain a trusting relationship with the publisher.
The creators also confirmed that, once their publishing contract expires at the end of 2026, the series is scheduled to resume under Number Nine around January 2027.
Alongside the announcement, the creators released an official notice explaining the decision.
“Thank you very much for your continued support of Make Heroine wo Katasetai!!. With this latest update, the serialization of this series will be discontinued, and publication will also be suspended. After our publishing contract ends at the end of this year, the series is scheduled to resume around January 2027 through Number Nine.”
“To explain the circumstances, it became difficult to maintain a trusting relationship with the publisher, and after careful consideration, the author decided to discontinue both the serialization and publication. We sincerely apologize to all our readers for having to share this disappointing news.”

Creators Say They Could No Longer Maintain Trust With the Publisher
Announcing the decision, the official account for Make Heroine wo Katasetai!! thanked readers for their continued support while apologizing for the unexpected news.
The statement explained that the creators had decided to discontinue both the serialization and publication of the series under Akita Shoten because rebuilding trust with the publisher had become difficult.
They also confirmed that further details regarding the manga’s return will be shared through the series’ official social media accounts.
In a lengthy joint statement, Nakayama and Tatsuwaipu outlined several issues they say occurred during the manga’s publication.
According to the creators, they had reached an understanding with their former editor before serialization began that sales figures would be shared accurately, as the future of the series would depend on the performance of the first collected volume.
They claim that around one month after Volume 1 was released, the former editor informed them that sales were performing well and that the series was unlikely to end after five volumes.
However, they allege that numerous editorial problems began affecting production, including repeated delays in checking storyboards and cover illustrations, communication issues with outside business partners, and meetings that failed to function effectively. They said these problems forced both the writer and artist to handle responsibilities that would normally fall under editorial work.
The creators stated that they requested improvements from both the former editor and the editor-in-chief in an effort to rebuild trust, but said communication and reporting problems continued even after a new editor was assigned.
Sales Figures Raised Further Concerns
The statement also alleges that additional issues emerged following the delay of Volume 2.
According to the creators, the transition between editors was not handled smoothly, with insufficient handover of materials and information.
They later reviewed digital sales data themselves and claim the figures differed significantly from what they had previously been told.
After confirming the numbers with their current editor, they say they learned that the first volume’s sales were not as strong as they had originally been led to believe and that the series could still potentially conclude with Volume 5, contrary to earlier explanations.
The creators further stated that they had previously asked the former editor what plans existed if the series were forced to end after five volumes, but were allegedly told that such an outcome was not being considered.
Meeting With Publisher Became Final Turning Point
According to the joint statement, the creators requested a meeting with the editor-in-chief and the former editor to discuss the series’ future and clarify the circumstances surrounding the editorial decisions.
While the editor-in-chief reportedly agreed to the meeting, the creators claim they were informed at the start of the discussion that the former editor had been asked to leave the meeting at the editor-in-chief’s decision.
They stated that this change had not been communicated to them beforehand and said the incident ultimately led them to conclude that rebuilding a trusting relationship with Akita Shoten was no longer possible.
As a result, they decided to end the serialization of Make Heroine wo Katasetai!! on Champion Cross.
Other Works Will Also Leave Akita Shoten
The creators also announced that several of their other works currently distributed through Akita Shoten will cease publication and digital distribution on December 31, 2026.
These include:
- Hagure Yuusha no Isekai Bible (Volumes 1–5)
- Tamamori Buchou no Mousou wa Tomaranai (Volumes 1–9)
- Make Heroine wo Katasetai!! (Volumes 1–2, along with future individual chapter releases)
Series Scheduled to Return in 2027
Despite ending its serialization under Akita Shoten, the creators confirmed that Make Heroine wo Katasetai!! is not ending permanently.
They plan to resume both publication and serialization through Number Nine around January 2027, with additional information expected to be announced through the manga’s official channels in the coming months.
At the time of writing, Akita Shoten has not publicly responded to the creators’ allegations.
