You surely would have seen multiple reels on Instagram and shorts on YouTube talking about the anime Kingdoms of Ruin and how this anime has a twist of darkness ruthlessness and an overpowered main character with the goal of revenge.

This dark fantasy story mixes in some wild sci-fi elements that give it super unique vibes. As soon as I saw the first episode, I knew this was gonna be my jam and consume my life, haha. Let me break down why every anime bro needs to be watching!

First off, the main character of Kindoms of Ruins Adonis has your standard magical apprentice origin story going on, which I can appreciate. Seeing him train with his mentor the ice witch Chloe hits all the right fantasy adventure beats. But then BAM – everything changes when the techno-dystopia nation attacks!

The way the Redia Empire’s(a country in Kingdoms of Ruin) sci-fi machines and vehicles contrast with Chloe’s (another city in Kingdoms of Ruin) elemental magic makes for some crazy visual contrasts. After they capture the duo using their crazy sci-fi machines and satellite communications the episode takes a very tragic turn which the whole internet has now shared and filled with anger by now which you can watch from the below video 🙁

And after Adonis sees his witchy mama die in a traumatic fashion, you just know this kid’s out for revenge once he’s back on the streets. The plot potential with that simmering rage combined with his insane magic abilities with the quill gifted by Chloe has me so hyped!

The worldbuilding of this anime also stands out by interweaving these two opposing realms of arcane magic and hyper-advanced technology. It’s like if Shadowrun or Final Fantasy VI got turned into a grim dark seinen anime. You’ve got your classic wizards and knights crossed with cyborgs, hackers, mechs, and lasers. So much crazy stuff that could be explored in Kingdoms of Ruin

Even with just 3 episodes in, I can surely tell Kingdom of Ruins is going to deliver a fresh take on dark fantasy by mashing it up with dystopian sci-fi. The gritty animation and unexpected plot twists have me hooked too. This is absolutely going to be the hottest new anime obsession among the boys, I guarantee! Let’s get hype together since I don’t want to spoil much of the story much! Comment down on whether there is any other anime that can top this anime this fall!
