In celebration of “No. 8” Day and Kafka’s birthday on August 5 in Japan, the official website and X accounts of Kaiju No. 8 (Japanese Name: Kaijuu 8-gou) have confirmed that the previously announced sequel will be a second season set to premiere in 2025.

Additionally, next year will see a film compilation of scenes from Season 1 and a special episode titled “Hoshina’s Day Off” in Japanese theatres. A live event featuring the anime’s voice actors is scheduled to take place at Kannai Hall on June 1, 2025.

Based on Naoya Matsumoto’s hit manga, the first season of Kaiju No. 8 was directed by Shigeyuki Miya and Tomomi Kamiya at Production I.G, with Ichiro Okouchi handling series composition, Tetsuya Nishio providing character designs, and Yuta Bando composing the music.

About Kaiju No. 8

Kaiju No. 8 (Japanese Name: Kaijuu 8-gou manga is written and illustrated by Matsumoto Naoya. This manga was first launched in July 2020 on Shueisha’s Jump + Website. This manga was printed and shipped for the first time in December 2020. By March 2023, this manga has released 11 Volumes and these 11 Volumes are in serialization.

This manga was later released in English, licensed by Viz Media in North America. Viz Media describes this manga as:

A man working a job far removed from his childhood dreams gets wrapped up in an unexpected situation…! Becoming a monster, he aims once again to fulfil his lifelong dream…!

Crunchyroll, which announced in June that it will stream the eagerly awaited sequel upon its release, currently offers the series with various subtitles and dubs.
