Fans waiting for the next chapter of D.Gray-man will have to wait a little longer. The Jump SQ. Editorial Department has announced that the manga will be absent from the upcoming issue of Jump SQ.RISE 2026 SUMMER due to creator Katsura Hoshino’s health.
The series is currently scheduled to return in the next issue, Jump SQ.RISE 2026 AUTUMN, which is expected to be released in late October 2026.
The announcement was shared through the official Jump SQ. X account, which apologized to readers for the unexpected break.
“D.Gray-man, which was scheduled to appear in Jump SQ.RISE 2026 SUMMER, on sale Thursday, July 30, will be on hiatus due to creator Katsura Hoshino’s health. We sincerely apologize to everyone who has been looking forward to the new chapter. The series is currently scheduled to return in the next issue, Jump SQ.RISE 2026 AUTUMN, planned for late October. Thank you for your understanding.”
No additional details regarding Hoshino’s condition were shared.
A Long History of Serialization
Created by Katsura Hoshino, D.Gray-man began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump in 2004 before later moving to Jump SQ. and eventually Jump SQ.RISE, where it continues to be published.
Set in an alternate 19th-century Europe, the story follows Allen Walker, a young exorcist who battles supernatural weapons known as AKUMA while confronting the mysterious Millennium Earl alongside the Black Order.
The manga has received two television anime adaptations, first in 2006 and later with D.Gray-man Hallow in 2016.
While readers will miss the series in this month’s issue, the editorial department has confirmed that the manga is expected to resume serialization with the magazine’s Autumn 2026 issue.
