After successfully organising a Death Note-inspired Chess Tournament, The Otaku Guild took things to the next level with Otaku Olympete 2024! swapping the chessboard with the football field Otaku Olympete was back again with an adrenaline-filled football tournament. A 5-A side(a smaller version of 11-a-side football where each team has five players instead of the usual 11) football showdown inspired by the egoistic nature of Blue Lock. The exciting tournament brought together the anime and sports fans of Kolkata creating teams inspired by popular anime tropes and competing with each other on the field creating an unforgettable experience.

A total of 16 teams participated in the Otaku Olympete Football tournament. The Teams were divided into four groups each group consisting of four teams. The teams of Otaku Olympete 2024:

Event Highlights & Tournament Structure

This unique tournament featured a 5-a-side team format, ideal for quick and action-packed matches. Teams played in two stages:

  • Group Stage Matches: 12 minutes each (5+5+2 break)
  • Knockout Matches: 16 minutes each (7+7+2 break)

Each team could register a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 7 players, with one goalkeeper allowed per team. The group qualifiers took place on August 24th, followed by knockout rounds on August 25th. The short but intense games kept both players and spectators on edge throughout the event, creating an electric atmosphere at Turf Time! Mixed teams were encouraged, highlighting the inclusive nature of this event and the anime community.

After two days of intense matches, teamwork, and sportsmanship, Akatsuki FC emerged victorious, claiming the title of Otaku Olympete 2024 Champions! and the CF. The Royals were the first runner-ups.

This year, a new champion was crowned: Akatsuki FC. CF The Royals sought revenge for last year’s defeat against Kolkata Komics but fell just short in the finals, becoming two-time runners-up. Last year’s champions, Kolkata Komics, claimed third place. A huge congratulations to all the teams who participated and brought their A-game! Special mentions go to Akuma FC, Bengal Kage Strikers, Inazuma 7, Seven Sins, Rolling Thunder Again, Team Valhalla, Blacklist, League of Villains, Fly High FC, Witchers FC, Black Dragons Gen 12, The Majestics FC, Kolkata Komics and Manshine United for their incredible performances.
