Norio Sakurai’s The Dangers In My Heart (Japanese Name: Boku No Kokoro No Yabai Yatsu. Also Known As: BokuYaba) is officially nearing its conclusion.
The manga’s 196th chapter has revealed that the series will end in just three more chapters, bringing an end to a story that has been serialized for more than eight years.
It was previously announced that the manga would conclude with its 14th collected volume, and the latest chapter has now confirmed that the finale is just around the corner.

The Dangers in My Heart first debuted in March 2018 in Akita Shoten’s Weekly Shōnen Champion magazine. Shortly after its launch, the manga moved to the Champion Cross website before later transferring to Manga Cross following the merger of Champion Cross and Champion Tap! in July 2018.
Over the years, the series has become one of the most beloved modern romantic comedies, earning praise for the gradual relationship between its two main characters, Kyotaro Ichikawa and Anna Yamada.
As of now, 13 collected volumes have been released in Japan, while Seven Seas Entertainment publishes the manga in English.
Anime Adaptation Helped Expand the Series’ Popularity
The manga received a television anime adaptation by Shin-Ei Animation, which premiered in April 2023 as part of TV Asahi’s NUMAnimation programming block.
The anime quickly became one of the highest-rated romance series of the year, with HIDIVE streaming it during its simulcast. The series was also made available on Netflix in many regions outside the United States and Canada.
Its second season followed in January 2024, continuing the story of Ichikawa and Yamada while receiving widespread praise from both critics and fans.
Earlier this year, the franchise also released The Dangers in My Heart: The Movie, a compilation film that premiered in Japan on February 13. The film later received international screenings in the United States, Latin America, France, Germany, Italy, and several Asian territories, selling more than 170,000 tickets worldwide.
The franchise is also set to continue beyond the manga, with Season 3 of the anime officially scheduled to premiere in 2027.
The Franchise Expanded Beyond the Main Manga
Alongside the main series, The Dangers in My Heart has continued to grow through several spin-offs and additional projects.
A light novel adaptation written by Kota Nozomi with illustrations by Norio Sakurai and sune was released in September 2024.
The comedy spin-off Twi-Yaba also received its own anime adaptation in December 2023.
Meanwhile, another spin-off manga titled The Dangers in My Heart: A Romantic Comedy Will Not Start (Boku no Kokoro no Yabai Yatsu Love Comedy ga Hajimaranai), illustrated by Haika Nanasaka, began serialization in July 2025.
With only three chapters remaining, readers are preparing to say goodbye to one of the most acclaimed romance manga of the past decade.
From its humble beginnings in 2018 to becoming an internationally recognized franchise with multiple anime seasons, a theatrical film, novels, and spin-offs, The Dangers in My Heart has established itself as one of modern romance manga’s biggest success stories.
While the manga’s journey is coming to an end, fans can still look forward to Season 3 of the anime in 2027, which will continue bringing Ichikawa and Yamada’s story to life on screen.
