Lucasfilm has released a brand-new trailer and key visual for Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi, offering fans their best look yet at the upcoming anime series ahead of its premiere on August 5, 2026, exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu:

The series is being animated by Production I.G, with Shunsuke Tada serving as director, Kenji Kamiyama as supervising director, and Hitoshi Ito as producer.
Unlike the anthology format of previous Star Wars: Visions installments, The Ninth Jedi expands one of the franchise’s most beloved original stories into a full-length anime series.
Originally introduced as one of the standout episodes in the first season of Star Wars: Visions, The Ninth Jedi follows Kara, the daughter of a legendary lightsaber smith. Set during a time when the Jedi Order has nearly vanished, the story introduces Force-connected lightsabers whose blade colors are determined by the wielder’s connection to the Force.
The upcoming series will continue Kara’s journey while further exploring the mysterious future of the Jedi and the galaxy established in the original short. Lucasfilm has also taken a much closer role in the production compared to the anthology episodes, making this one of the studio’s biggest anime collaborations to date.
The newly released trailer showcases intense lightsaber battles, returning characters, and a deeper look at the conflict surrounding the rebirth of the Jedi Order, while the new visual highlights Kara alongside both allies and enemies who will shape the next chapter of the story.
Star Wars: Visions Presents – The Ninth Jedi premieres on August 5, 2026, streaming exclusively on Disney+ and Hulu.
