Today, the popular animation studio Kyoto Animation has released a special video where they teased about the studio’s upcoming projects. Along with those projects, the studio has announced that the popular Jump manga by Masaoki Shindo, Ruri Dragon (Also written as RuriDragon) is getting an anime adaptation soon.
The mangaka Masaoki Shindo shared the celebratory art for this anime adaptation. Kyoto Animation released the video on their official YouTube channel:

The release date of this anime adaptation is still unknown, as the video shows the project timeline for Ruri Dragon is 20??. Potentially, it can be 2027, but nothing is confirmed yet.
This will mark Kyoto Animation’s first Shonen Jump series as an anime in its 40-year History. As Kyoto animation is best known for adapting Light Novels and original stories.

About Ruri Dragon
Ruri Dragon (Also written as RuriDragon) is a japanese manga series written and illustrated by Masaoki Shindo. It was originally a one-shot published in Shueisha’s Jump Giga magazine in December 2020. Later this manga got serialised in June 2020 in Weekly Shonen Jump. This manga took an 18-month hiatus, and it shifted to Weekly Shonen Jump’s online service, Shonen Jump+ service in April 2024.
As of November 2025, this manga has a total of 4 Volumes.
This manga is getting an anime adaptation by Kyoto Animation.
Viz Media and Shueisha’s Manga Plus platform are publishing the series digitally in English. Viz Media announced that they will release this manga in print format. Viz Media explains the plot of this manga:
“Well, a half dragon. Her mom admits Ruri inherited her draconic traits from her father, who, yes, is actually a dragon. As if dealing with curious classmates wasn’t already challenging enough, Ruri and her dragon genes literally turn up the heat in the middle of a lecture. Her ordinary life is about to be anything but!“
