About JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure (Japanese Name: JoJo no Kimyou na Bouken) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Hirohiko Araki. The manga first began serialization in 1987 in Weekly Shonen Jump.
The series is structured into multiple parts, each following a different member of the Joestar bloodline, with unique settings, timelines, and themes.
The manga has been published under Shueisha. As of 2024, the manga has over 130 volumes released across its various parts.
The anime adaptation began in October 2012, produced by David Production. The anime adaptations include: Phantom Blood, Battle Tendency, Stardust Crusaders, Diamond is Unbreakable, Golden Wind, Stone Ocean, & Steel Ball Run.
Stone Ocean was released globally via Netflix between 2021 and 2022. Steel Ball Run is set to release in March 2026.
The franchise is known for introducing Stands, supernatural manifestations of fighting spirit, which became a defining mechanic from Stardust Crusaders onward.
