Japan’s Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi made headlines on Monday after quoting a famous line from a popular TV Anime Attack on Titan (Japanese Name: Shingeki No Kyojin) during her speech at the Future Investment Initiative conference.
Speaking at the Saudi Arabia–led international financial summit, Takaichi highlighted the global popularity of Japanese manga and anime, especially in Saudi Arabia. She then dramatically cited a fan-favorite line: “Just shut your mouths. Invest everything in me!“
The quote, originally delivered by Eren Yeager in Attack on Titan, drew laughs and attention from global business leaders. Takaichi followed the reference by saying: “I think you understand what I would like to ask. Japan is back. Invest in Japan.”
During the Q&A session, Takaichi emphasised her administration’s goal of strengthening Japan’s economy through strategic fiscal spending, boosting economic growth potential, improving debt indicators and fiscal confidence.
The Tokyo conference marked 70 years of diplomatic relations between Japan and Saudi Arabia, and featured over 1,000 business leaders worldwide, including Masayoshi Son, Chairman & CEO of SoftBank Group.
Both countries are advancing collaboration tied to Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, a major reform plan focused on private-sector development and diversification. Takaichi stated: “We’re accelerating efforts to promote supply chain cooperation between Japanese and Saudi enterprises.”
