One Piece’s original mangaka, Eiichiro Oda sent a message to the Production team of this remake, “I want you all to express rather than copy and paste the work“, which encouraged the production team to create their creative interpretation in the story, adding a new layer of expression while still honoring the original work.

In a recent interview with Real Sound, The president of Production I.G and Wit Studio said about this remake that they are aware of anime having 1000+ Episodes, and the younger audience who are used to modern animation will have difficulty in watching 25-year-old episodes in 4:3 analog format. That’s why, this remake will focus on increasing the reach of One Piece work, working together with anime, manga, and Live-action. The recent animation studio of One Piece, Toei Animation encouraged this remake decision and they will also give their all while they continue the latest episodes.
