On 11 January 2024, the official X account was made announcing the brand-new TV Anime “Tohai – Ura Rate Mahjong Tohai Roku” [Temporary Translation(Not Official Translation): Frozen tiles – back-rate mahjong fighting tiles, Also Known As: Touhai: Ura Rate Mahjong Touhai Roku] which is based on the original manga by Shinasaka Koji.
They released the announcement teaser and the first trailer for this series. This anime is set to release in 2024.

Tohai (Also known as: Tohai – Ura Rate Mahjong Tohai Roku) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Koji Shinasaka. It was serialized in June 2006 in Akita Shoten’s seinen manga magazine Young Champion. This manga later got a sequel titled “Tohai: Hitobashira-hen” which was serialized in May 2011 in Young Champion. The third sequel titled “Tohai: Minagoroshi-hen” was serialized in September 2017 in Young Champion. The fourth sequel “Tohai: Cold Girl” has been serialized in Young Champion since September 2021 and is still ongoing.
This manga later got a live-action film adaptation which was released in Japan in May 2013. An anime adaptation for this manga is announced for 2024 which will be produced by East Fish Studio.

“Not a lot of people know that one of the most talented and ruthless Mahjong players in the city is a young high school boy. Kei is a teenager of few words, but his observation skills, unwavering will and experience in the game allows him to survive in a world full of powerful, rich and dangerous characters. Kei is currently hiding a girl named Amina who has entered the country illegally and protecting her from being deported. He spends his days sleeping through class and his nights playing high stakes Mahjong, waiting for when a worthy opponent arrives.“
