This museum was made by renovating the Nintendo Uji Kokura Factory Site which is located at Uji, Kyoto Prefecture. The nearest station to reach this museum is Kokura Station on the Kintetsu Kyoto Line, which is only about 20 minutes away from Kyoto Station.

The story of the Nintendo Uji Kokura Factory is also very interesting. In 1889, when Nintendo first started their business, they used to manufacture Hanafuda Cards. It was established 135 Years ago. The company expanded itself into home video game consoles in 1977 and by 1982, it had grown into one of the world’s leading game companies.

Nintendo Uji Kokura Factory was built in 1969. This factory was used in the manufacturing of Playing cards and Hanafuda Cards. Cards were the early products of Nintendo and this factory was also operated as a game console service center.

However, operations were transferred to the Uji factory in November 2016 and the site and building were renovated and will be used as a museum. It was announced in September 2023 that the official name of the museum will be “Nintendo Museum.

This Museum will display the products manufactured and released by Nintendo in the past and they claim that it will be a panoramic view of Nintendo’s history. Bookmark our website for more updates!

Nintendo believes that the main purpose of the Nintendo Museum is to spread understanding of the company’s manufacturing. They also aim to renovate the area around Kintetsu Kokura Station. As it is the in-house museum of a global entertainment company, it is likely to be visited by people all over the world.
