CloverWorks, the acclaimed animation studio behind hit anime such as My Dress-Up Darling, Bocchi the Rock!, WIND BREAKER, Horimiya, and The Fragrant Flowers Bloom With Dignity, has reported a net loss of ¥38 million for the fiscal year ending March 2026.
The financial results were published on June 29 through Japan’s official government gazette (Kanpō), revealing that the studio remained in the red for a second consecutive fiscal year.
According to the filing, CloverWorks recorded a final net loss of ¥38 million for the fiscal year ending March 2026. This marks an increase from the ¥24 million net loss reported for the previous fiscal year ending March 2025.
The latest figures indicate that the animation studio has posted losses for two consecutive reporting periods.

CloverWorks was established in October 2018 after being spun off from A-1 Pictures and currently operates as a subsidiary of Aniplex, which itself is part of Sony Music Entertainment (Japan).
Since its establishment, the studio has produced numerous critically acclaimed and commercially successful anime, including My Dress-Up Darling, Bocchi the Rock!, WIND BREAKER, The Elusive Samurai, Horimiya, Akebi’s Sailor Uniform, Wonder Egg Priority, The Promised Neverland Season 1, and co-produced SPY × FAMILY alongside WIT STUDIO.
Despite the reported loss, there has been no announcement suggesting any impact on CloverWorks’ ongoing productions or future anime projects. The company continues to have several upcoming projects in production, including My Dress-Up Darling Season 2 and other announced titles.
Financial statements alone do not necessarily indicate the commercial success or failure of individual anime projects. Anime studios often recognize revenue and production costs across different periods, while production committee structures can also significantly affect a studio’s financial results.
As a result, a reported annual loss does not automatically suggest that the studio is experiencing financial difficulties or that its future productions are at risk.
The filing also shows CloverWorks reported total assets of approximately ¥3.07 billion, while shareholders’ equity stood at approximately ¥578 million at the end of the fiscal year.

The newly published financial report follows a strong period creatively for the studio, with CloverWorks continuing to receive praise from anime fans worldwide for its animation quality and diverse lineup of original and adapted works.
