On 6th December 2023, The original full-length animated film “FURERU.”, designed by Masayoshi Tanaka, was announced, it is set to be released in the fall of 2024 and is produced by CloverWorks

This is the first time in about four years that director Tatsuyuki Nagai, Mari Okada, and Masayoshi Tanaka have worked together on a feature-length animation since 2019.

The director is Tatsuyuki Nagai, who made his directorial debut with `”Honey and Clover II” (2006) and has also directed `”A Certain Scientific Railgun” (2009) and “Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans” (2015). Mari Okada is known for writing the screenplay for the movie “Anohana “(2018), and this year also wrote and directed the movie “Alice to Therese no Maboroshi Koujou” and Masayoshi Tanaka is in charge of character design.
He has worked on mega-hit works such as the character design for “SUZUME” (2022) and the animation director for “Shin Evangelion the Movie” (2021). “Anohana” was a big hit in 2013. ”, 2015 “The Anthem of the Heart” and 2019’s “Her Blue Sky”, a long-awaited new work that once again brings together the three talents known for working on the Original feature-length animated film “Fureru”
Direcrtor Tatsuyuki Nagai commented about this upcoming film:
“Four years have passed since the trilogy set in Chichibu, “Anohana”, “Kokosake”, and “Sorao”, was completed.
My desire to create a new story together with Mr. Okada, who wrote the screenplay, and Mr. Tanaka, who designed the characters, came true, and here we are today.
The stage this time is Tokyo.
This is the story of a boy who cannot communicate well with words, who meets a creature with mysterious powers, and the three of them are connected by this encounter.
In animation, it seems that mysterious events often occur during childhood or adolescence, but this work is a story of young men who coexist with mysterious creatures and become adults.
The focus is on characters who normally wouldn’t be protagonists.
Everyone experiences changes in relationships between childhood and adulthood.
When you’ve been with someone for a long time, you may end up feeling like you understand the other person and end up saying something, but I hope this work makes you feel like you should try to convey your feelings directly to the other person.
