Riding this wave of anime fever a new group was recently formed in the heart of Banaras/Varanasi a city know for it’s ancient tradition and cultural heritage, which has now become the home for one of the fastest growing anime community in India. The Start Of Banaras Anime Club
Imagine two friends having a discussion over at a cafe and suddenly a notification pops up, well this is how the story of Banaras Anime club started. The idea form an anime club came into being when Ansh and Yasharth were having a discussion while Ansh was excited over his Giyu’s Katanana which was custom made which he was going to use at Delhi Comic Con for his cosplay. suddenly a notification pops up and it sparks idea inside Ansh, Ansh Enthusiastically tells Yasharth “Bhaiya(big brother) Let’s create Banaras Anime Club” to which Yasharth responded “Yes!! let’s do it”, and that’s is how Banaras Anime Club started
Who are Ansh and Yasharth and what was the notification?
Ansh and Yasharth are the founders of Banaras Anime club. They are also the part of Delhi Anime and the notification was of a message in the chat group of Delhi Anime Club.
The Otaku Mantra team has been connected to multiple anime communities, fan bases and groups from all over of India(checkout this blog to know more) and we were also following Banaras Anime Club very closely from the beginning and that’s how we our team got an opportunity to ask some questions to the founders of Banaras Anime Club and we got some really interesting answers, read below…
Q: What are the core principles and ideas that the club would like to follow and function accordingly?
A: The idea behind the club is to provide a platform to the fans who have been fallen in love with the amazing world of anime. We would like this club to be a place where people can come together, share their love and interest with each other and build a community for everyone. In India there are many communities like this and after being a part of such a community we wanted to provide the same experience to the otakus of varansi and neighbouring cities.
Q:How do you keep people engaged with the club and attract new people?
A: from the day of the club was formed that is 15th November we have been working towards bringing events, competition, meetups and screenings to keep the existing community engaging and as well as attract new people to the community and the fruits of our hard work is visible we already reached 1500+ followers in just time span of 3 months.
Well that’s how Banaras Anime Club became the Fastest growing Anime Community in India
Q :What events and activities has the club organised in the first three months since its formation ?
A : Intially we started with few online competition and events and our first few online events included Memebazi– a meme making competition, an online dubbing competition , and the AnimeKala – an anime art competition along with this we also organized our first offline meetup and it went really well we had over 70 attendees for our first meetup and it was an amazing experience to host such an event. Recently during the re-release of Suzume no Tojimari we also did multiple group watch.
Q : Finally what are the future goals of the club ?
A : For our future we only have one goal and that is to conduct fun activities and quality events for everyone and create a community that is open to everyone.
We had a really fun time while talking with the founders of Banaras Anime Club and they also left a message for all the anime clubs out there.
We are in a very nascent stage and we believe that if we can do even 10% of what our senpai clubs have done out there, we would consider ourselves as successful! So far now, walking in the steps of our senpais is what we are focusing upon! -Founders of Banaras Anime Club (Ansh and Yasharth)
