The upcoming anime series THE ONE PIECE has revealed its new key visual and trailer, giving fans another look at WIT Studio’s new take on Eiichiro Oda’s legendary pirate adventure.
The new series is set to begin worldwide streaming on Netflix in February 2027 and will retell the story from the very beginning of the original manga.
THE ONE PIECE Reveals New Key Visual and Trailer

The newly released key visual pays homage to the cover illustration from the first chapter of the ONE PIECE manga.
It features Monkey D. Luffy at the center, spreading his arms and legs as he looks ready to jump into the adventure ahead. Nami and members of Shanks’ Red Hair Pirates can also be seen in the visual, surrounded by treasure and enjoying the freedom of the sea.
The artwork uses a bright and colorful style, with blue skies, a sparkling ocean, flying seagulls and plenty of treasure surrounding the characters.
The visual gives fans an early look at how WIT Studio is approaching the world of ONE PIECE for this new adaptation.
Season 1 Will Cover the First 50 Chapters
As previously announced, THE ONE PIECE will completely re-adapt the original story starting from Chapter 1, beginning with the East Blue arc.
The first season will cover approximately 50 chapters of the manga, taking Luffy’s journey up to his meeting with Sanji, the chef and future Straw Hat Pirate, at the floating restaurant Baratie.
Season 1 will consist of seven episodes, with all seven episodes scheduled to be released together.
The complete season will have a total runtime of approximately 300 minutes, giving fans around five hours of the new adaptation when the entire first season is watched.
Unlike the ongoing ONE PIECE television anime, THE ONE PIECE is being produced by WIT Studio with an entirely new animation team.
The project is being developed separately from the existing television anime, which has been running for more than 25 years.
Rather than simply continuing the existing adaptation, the new series aims to revisit Luffy’s earliest adventures with modern animation techniques while maintaining the feeling of the original story.
The production describes its approach as presenting Luffy and his friends’ adventure in a way that feels “nostalgic yet new.”
Mayumi Tanaka Returns as Luffy
One familiar element from the original anime will return for the new adaptation.
Mayumi Tanaka will once again voice Monkey D. Luffy.
Tanaka has portrayed Luffy throughout the long-running ONE PIECE anime, making her return particularly notable for longtime fans.
The rest of the cast has not yet been revealed.
The Story That Started It All
ONE PIECE originally began serialization in Weekly Shonen Jump on July 22, 1997.
Created by Eiichiro Oda, the story follows Monkey D. Luffy, a young pirate who sets out to find the legendary treasure known as the One Piece and become the Pirate King.
After gaining rubber-like abilities from eating a Devil Fruit, Luffy begins gathering his crew and sets off on an adventure across the Grand Line.
More than two decades later, the manga has surpassed 600 million copies in worldwide circulation, while the original television anime has been airing since 1999.
The franchise has also expanded into films, games, merchandise and numerous other projects, with ONE PIECE FILM RED becoming one of the franchise’s biggest theatrical releases.
Now, THE ONE PIECE is preparing to take fans back to where that massive journey began.
THE ONE PIECE Arrives on Netflix in February 2027
With its new key visual and trailer now available, THE ONE PIECE is moving closer to its worldwide Netflix debut.
The series will begin from the original manga’s first chapter, with its first season covering 50 chapters across seven episodes and approximately 300 minutes of content.
And with WIT Studio bringing a completely new visual approach while Mayumi Tanaka returns as Luffy, the series is shaping up to offer something familiar to longtime fans while giving the beginning of ONE PIECE a fresh presentation.
THE ONE PIECE will begin worldwide streaming on Netflix in February 2027.
