A Chinese Man helped To Stop The Knife Attack Because "Himmel would have done the same" otaku mantra

The random stabbing incident occurred in China’s Taichung City’s Taichung MRT on May 21, 2024. At that time 17 Heroes Showed bravery and fought against the culprit. The Taichung City Government (4) decided to praise those heroes so they decided to give them awards and 9 people out of 17 attended that ceremony.

Among them, Xu Ruixian, the “long-haired brother” who fought with the suspect appeared wearing a co-branded shirt from the popular video game Monster Hunter. He claimed that he is an otaku and said that “Otakus are not as bad as everyone imagines. Don’t be stereotyped

After the Zheng Jie case happened 10 years ago in China, many people stigmatized Otakus. So Xu Ruixian wore a special dress to justify something that the people in the same circle would understand.

When Xu Ruixian received the award, he quoted a line from the Japanese TV anime “Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End” (Sousou no Frieren) “If He was the Brave Himmel then, Himmel would have done the same“. This sentence is like his motto, and it encourages him to do the same. He also added, “If time could go over again, he would still make the same choice.”

In addition, Xu Ruixian is also wearing canvas shoes that he wore during the crime. That shoes still had the traces of blood on them. He said that because the blood on the shoes could not be wiped off, but the shoes were still wearable, so he will not clean them, and he did not have to worry about them getting even dirtier later on.

  1. You should probably edit the post to say Taiwan, not China. I see there’s a footnote but this is like mixing up India with Pakistan.
