About Trigun
Trigun is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Yasuhiro Nightow. It was first serialized from March 1995 to December 1996 in Tokuma Shoten’s Shounen manga magazine Monthly Shounen Captain. This manga only collected 3 volumes as the magazine ceased its publication. This manga continued its serialization from October 1997 to March 2007 in Shounen Gahosha’s seinen manga magazine Your King OURs with the title Trigun Maximum. This manga also won the 40th Seiun Awards.
This manga later got an anime adaptation by Studio Madhouse in April 1998. This anime has also received an anime film “Trigun: Badlands Rumble” which was released in Japan in April 2020. In January 2023, this manga received a brand new anime adaptation by studio Orange under the name Trigun Stampede. This new adaptation has also received a sequel titled “Trigun Stargaze”, which was released on January 2026.
Dark Horse Comics licensed this manga in English and describes its plot as:
“On the forbidding desert world of Gunsmoke, a mysterious bounty hangs above the head of Vash the Stampede, and the gunslinging pacifist can’t seem to find a moment’s respite. Vash is no ordinary pistolero, packing a weapon capable of punching holes in a planet, which explains why the locals tremble at the very mention of his name. But sixty billion double dollars is no ordinary reward, and every trigger-happy psycho in creation is aiming to claim Vash dead or alive—preferably dead!“
