About Ranma ½
Ranma ½ (Synonym: Ranma 1/2) is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Takahashi Rumiko. It was serialized from August 1987 to March 1996 in Shogakukan‘s Weekly Shounen Sunday. This manga has a total of 38 Volumes.
Later this manga received an anime series adaptation by Studio Deen. They produced 2 anime series of this manga “Ranma ½ and Ranma ½ Nettohen” which aired from 1989 to 1992. They also produced 12 OVAs and 3 films of this anime adaptation. In June 2024, its announced that this manga is getting a brand new anime adaptation.
Viz Media licensed this manga in English and describes its plot as:
“Years ago, Genma promised his old friend Soun Tendo that Ranma would marry one of Soun’s three daughters and carry on the family’s martial arts school. Except that the girl picked to be Ranma’s bride doesn’t seem to like him, Ranma keeps getting into fights…and did we mention that whole changing into a girl thing?“
