Monkey Man is an upcoming Neo-noir action thriller film also a vigilante thriller film directed by Dev Patel in his feature directorial debut also co-written by him and, Paul Angunawela and John Collee. The film stars Patel, Sharlto Copley, Pitobash, Sobhita Dhulipala, Sikandar Kher, Vipin Sharma, Ashwini Kalsekar, Adithi Kalkunte and Makarand Deshpande.
I think it’s the best trailer of 2024 yet, which means 2024 is just a month old but the trailer of Monkey Man exactly did what a trailer wants to do, “To Excite the Audience.” It creates interest and hype across the internet, and today we are going to talk about it.
Monkey Man Trailer First Impressions
An anonymous young man unleashes a campaign of vengeance against the corrupt leaders who murdered his mother and continue to victimize the poor and powerless systemically.
I am always fascinated with the journey of Dev Patel and his film choices he gained that popularity with SlumDog Millionaire and the films he chose after this like Lion, The Green Knight, Chappie, and my personal favorite The Man Who Knew Infinity. Now he gets the chance to star as an action hero in his written & directorial film. It is clear that he made his enough name in Hollywood by making a film on this scale.
Also, another reason I am looking forward to the film it was produced by Jordan Peele ( director of Get Out, Us & Nope) he saw the film and decided to back the film as a producer from Netflix to the theatrical release.
After seeing the trailer it clears the film is a vigilante thriller like a person fighting against Elites and corruption for his personal loss for the sake of revenge. Like V for Vendetta and many others. But with a religious background. The film will also try to explore the rich and poor themes and capitalism.
Also, the protagonist uses the monkey mask to hide his identity, it directly symbolizes Lord Hanuman also the metaphor of Ramayana. There are some stereotypes on religious themes but its fine, their perspective.
Now on the editing of the trailer, we know why the trailers are important for film marketing and hype in both good and bad ways. Like recent examples like Animal trailer create hype among the audience and its benefits for the film.
The trailer was edited so well with the powerful Punjabi music. Also, the action sequences look promising, and the style reminds me of films like John Wick.
Also, the cast of the film and the production quality of the film promises that it will be a stylized action film with a compelling story. I just hope it delivers because the trailer creates hype among the audience.
So that’s my thoughts and expectations from the trailer of Monkey Man it’s just a trailer so there cannot be more dive into it.
