Author Synecdoche commented on this anime adaptation:
I am very happy because I never thought that I would have the opportunity to have this work made into an anime. When I was asked to write a 200-word comment for the anime adaptation, I thought 200 words was quite a lot, so I looked up how many sheets of manuscript paper 200 words would be, and found that the standard is 400, so I thought it would be less than one sheet or about 10 sheets. I hope you enjoy the animation of the Erufuda and the other characters moving and talking.

Elf-san Wa Yaserarenai (English Name: Elf Can’t Be On Diet, Synonyms: Plus-Sized Elf) is a Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Synecdoche. It was first originally serialized in December 2016 on Wani Books’ Comic Gum website. This manga had a total of 8 Volumes.
After the recent license expiration of Wani Books, a continuation manga titled “Plus-Sized Elf: Second Helping!” started its serialization in October 2021 in Akita Shoten’s monthly seinen magazine, Dokodemo Young Champion. This manga has a total of 2 Volumes.
Both mangas are licensed in English Seven Seas Entertainment. An anime adaptation has been announced for 2024.
