On 24 February 2024. the official trailer of Netflix’s Live-Action series “City Hunter” is released. They also revealed the cast and revealed that it will be released on 25 April 2024.

Netflix announces additional cast members for The City Hunter live-action adaptation. The Netflix movie “City Hunter” will start streaming worldwide on April 25th. Directed by Yuichi Sato (known for Strawberry Night series), and written by Tatsuro Mishima (Known for Yu Yu Hakusho).

The story is set in modern-day Shinjuku, with Suzuki Ryohei playing Ryo and Misato Morita playing Hideyuki’s younger sister, Kaori.

My name is Masanobu Ando and I will be playing the role of Hideyuki Makimura. Since it’s a live-action adaptation of a popular original work and characters, there is some pressure on those who watched it at the time to perform, but I’d be happy if people who watched the comics and anime, as well as those of a generation that doesn’t know about it, can enjoy it.

It’s a masterpiece that has been loved beyond time, and when I was asked to play the role of Saeko, I couldn’t immediately answer because I couldn’t picture myself as her. After that, even after many preparations such as costume matching and hair and makeup tests, I still couldn’t shake my anxiety, but the chairperson, Ryohei Suzuki, appeared like a hero and gave me advice in a typical Saeko style as he is a fan of the original work. That was very reassuring. I think this is a work that both fans of the original work and newcomers can enjoy, so please look forward to it.

City Hunter is a Japanese classic manga series written and illustrated by Tsukasa Hojo. It was serialized in 1985 in Shueisha’s Shounen manga magazine Weekly Shounen Jump. This manga series has a total of 35 volumes. This manga later got an anime adaptation by Studio Sunrise in 1987.
City Hunter has many adaptations and spin-offs from several countries. This franchise has 4 anime series, 3 anime specials, 5 anime films, many live-action films, video games, and a live-action Korean TV drama. It also had a spin-off manga, Angel Heart.
In 2022, Coamix’s Mangahot service began publishing City Hunter manga in English digitally and they describes its plot as
“Ryo Saeba, a.k.a. City Hunter. A sweeper who fulfills all his client’s needs.
