Anime That Deserve a New Season

Have you ever found yourself so engrossed in the new anime you found, binging it for nights with thrill and forgetting about everything only to later find out that the story was never complete and the anime ended without an ending or proper continuation? Thousands of anime fans face the same situation with there being hundreds of anime every year it is usually the case with studios that they do not continue all of them and it leaves all the fans hanging around, patiently waiting for some miracle to happen so that they might get to enjoy their favorite anime again.

In this article, we‘ll explore ten anime series that genuinely deserve a new season, ranging from some immensely popular ones to some of the less known ones.

1. Highschool DxD

High school DxD is considered to be one of the most popular ecchi harem anime. The anime follows Issei Hyoudou, a perverted high school student who becomes a devil servant after being killed by a fallen angel. High school DxD has action, comedy, and our favorite ecchi elements. Fans have been waiting for High School DXD season 5 for years since the last season was released in 2018, and there are rumors that it will be released in 2023 which has increased the demand which is expected, given the series’ popularity, but we still haven’t got any official updates since 2018.

2. No Game, No Life

No list of anime that should have been continued goes without No Game No Life, a super popular ski about two siblings Sora and Shiro that got transported to another fantasy world where everything is games. The strategic mind games and intense competitions keep the fans glued to the screens, but after the first season, the fans are left on a cliffhanger waiting for a continuation.

The first 12-episode series aired in 2014 by studio madhouse, rumors state that the anime did not get another season for some plagiarism issues in the original works but still, we have only a very small fraction of information on that matter.

The author has stated in an interview that:
“I cannot tell you the exact reason why there is no second season, but it is not a problem of money, nor with anyone else. Perhaps the problem lies in the fact that it was executed so well, to the point where it is difficult to create a second season with the same level of quality.’ In conclusion, all the fans can do is wait for the producers to make a decision.”

3. Baccano

Baccano is a one-of-a-kind anime that take a different take on linear storylines set in the 1930s Baccano intertwines multiple storylines and characters in a thrilling narrative. With its non-linear storytelling, charismatic cast, and intriguing plot. It is not impossible to predict the plot but joining together all the plot points feels like a puzzle to the viewer and entertains him further.

The plot melts the fans in excitement revolving around characters ranging from gangsters, immortal beings, criminals, monsters, alchemists, and more.Fans have been waiting for almost 12 years about why this anime hasn’t had another season and still, there is no news of a sequel. There are 22 volumes of these volumes most of which are waiting to be adopted.

4. Ouran High School Host Club

Ouran High School Host Club has achieved the title of being a classic among fans it is a delightful romantic comedy that centers around Haruhi Fujioka, a scholarship student who accidentally joins a host club composed of handsome male students. With its characters, hilarious moments, and heartwarming romance, Ouran High School Host Club has just found a place in the hearts of its fans. Being one of the fans of Ouran High School host club, its comedy, and drama it’s heartbreaking to see that it has been 16 years since 2006 when the anime aired and is still left without a sequel, even the author said in an interview that he would love to see a continuation.

5. Hyouka

Hyouka is a slice-of-life mystery anime by Kyoto Animation that follows Oreki Houtarou, a high school student who prefers conserving his energy but finds himself drawn into solving various mysteries alongside the curious Chitanda Eru.

Personally one of my favorite anime, hyouka immersed me in its beauty and mystery, and even though it had a particularly satisfying end to the anime, knowing that there are more volumes and stories ahead of what I have seen makes me wish for another season to watch the beauty and fall in love with it all over again. After the 2012 adaptation of 22 episodes; if a possible new season consists of 12 episodes, we can consider sufficient source material. However, it is impossible to predict the decisions of the creators.

6. Highschool of the Dead

‘High School of the Dead,’ also known as ‘Apocalyptic Academy: High School of the Dead,’ is a Japanese Horror anime based on the manga of the same name. Created by Daisuke Sato with illustrations by Shoji Sato, the series gained immense popularity among manga and anime enthusiasts. The story revolves around an apocalyptic catastrophe in which a mysterious disease spreads, turning humans into zombies. The show follows a group of young survivors as they navigate the zombie-infested world and struggle to protect each other.

The first season of ‘High School of the Dead’ aired in 2010 and garnered a strong fanbase. However, despite its popularity, the series has not been renewed for a second season. The manga remains unfinished due to the unfortunate passing of Daisuke Sato in 2017.While there is still hope for a new season, with the possibility of a new writer, there have been no official announcements or updates regarding its production. Fans eagerly await any news or developments regarding the continuation of the series.

7. The God of Highschool

The story follows Mori Jin, a high school student who proclaims himself as the strongest. When he is invited to participate in the “God of High School” tournament, where the strongest high schooler will have their wish granted, his life takes an unexpected turn. Alongside his friends Daewi Han and Mira Yoo, Mori faces formidable opponents and discovers the secrets behind the tournament.

Despite the immense popularity and critical acclaim of the first season for it being fast-paced, there has been no official announcement regarding a second season. However, fans remain hopeful, as the anime concluded with a cliffhanger ending that hinted at the continuation of the Jin Taejin arc from the webtoon and that’s why fans hoping for the new season for this anime.

8. Yuri!!! On Ice

Yuri On Ice series follows the story of Japanese skater Yuri, mentored by champion Victor Nikiforov, and his rivalry with Russian skater Yuri in the Figure Skating Grand Prix. The first season, consisting of 12 episodes, gained popularity for its beautiful storytelling and same-sex relationship representation.

While there is no official release date for a new Season, fans can expect it sometime in 2023 or 2024. The plot is speculated to delve deeper into the evolving relationship between Yuri and Victor, possibly featuring a dramatic competition between the two. A teaser clip on the Blu-ray release hints at continued rivalry between the two Yuris, there has been information about an upcoming movie set to release but not a whole new season.

9. Beelzebub

Beelzebub, the hilarious action-comedy anime based on Ryuhei Tamura’s manga, may not see a sequel anytime soon. The series follows Oga, a delinquent school student tasked with raising Beel, the Demon King’s son, to destroy humanity. The first season, which aired in 2011, covered the first 13 volumes of the manga and some chapters of volume 14. However, it left fans disappointed with its incomplete ending, adapting less than half of the completed manga into 60 episodes.

Despite the potential for a second season to explore the manga’s best arcs and deliver more humor and action, there are no official announcements or rumors regarding Beelzebub new Season. The ongoing pandemic has further complicated matters in the anime industry, making the future of Beelzebub uncertain. As of now, there is no release date or information available.

10. Talentless Nana

Talentless Nana, the captivating psychological thriller anime, has left fans eagerly awaiting its second season. Set in a world plagued by mysterious monsters called “Enemies of Humanity,” the story revolves around Nana Hiiragi, a seemingly quirky girl who joins a school for children with superpowers. However, Nana is a talentless government assassin assigned to eliminate the “Talented,” who are believed to be the true enemies.

The first season received praise for its reverse murder mystery concept. As of now, there is no official renewal announcement for Talentless Nana Season 2. And making the chances of an immediate sequel uncertain. Although fans may be disappointed, there remains a possibility that another studio could take up the series. The manga, written by Looseboy and illustrated by Iori Furuya, has released nine volumes, providing ample source material for a potential second season.

The first season covered four volumes, leaving room for further adaptation. Despite the lack of official updates, fans can still hope for the continuation of Talentless Nana’s gripping storyline as a new season.
