Kadokawa has announced that the popular romance manga by Mahiro, “My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999” (Japanese Name: Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru) is getting a Live Action Movie. It is revealed that this Live action movie will be released on March 28, 2025. Kadokawa opened the official website of this upcoming live-action movie and shared the Key Visual for this movie. The official YouTube channel of Kadokawa Movies released the trailer for this upcoming Live Action Movie:
As we can spot from both the trailer and Key visual, The main characters’ castings are revealed that Yamada Akito is played by Sakuma Ryuto and Kinoshita Akane is played by Yamashita Mizuki.

The addition of a different kind of fun in three dimensions means that I think this is a work that can be enjoyed by both those who already love the original work and those who are seeing it for the first time. I was excited to jump into the world of “Yamada-kun,” but I also felt the pressure of making a live-action version of a very popular manga. I had a chance to talk with Mashiro-sensei, the original author, and I approached the filming with the hope of creating a work that Yamada-kun fans could enjoy from the bottom of their hearts.
Yamashita Mizuki (Kinoshita Akane)
It was my first attempt at a romantic comedy film, but in the school festival scene, I thought, “This is a romantic comedy!” (laughs).
The dialogue between the guild members was also interesting, and I couldn’t help but laugh at the ad-libs, so it was a fun shoot filled with smiles every day.
I think the appeal of this film is the frustrating yet cute distance between Yamada and Akane, the characters of the characters, the bond that is formed through the game, and the warm story that is not just about love. It is a content that can be enjoyed by many people, whether they are fans of the original work or game lovers, so I hope you will go to the cinema to see it!

Now that I’m over 30, it’s getting harder to get excited about school romantic comedies in a life-sized way, but when I read the first volume of “My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999” I was truly excited for the first time in a long time, and I thought it was a rare work that teenagers facing their first love, and people in their 20s and 30s who have already experienced many loves, can all feel the same excitement together.

I repeatedly talked with screenwriter Kawahara about how to protect that kindness, and with the help of Mashiro-sensei, we wove a script, and the two leading actors, who deeply loved the original work, took their roles seriously and embodied them delicately, joined us (it was a heart-shaking experience for me as a fan of the original work to think “Yamada and Akane are here!” many times during filming), and Director Yasukawa made it into a movie that was sometimes comical, sometimes emotional, and extremely cute (from the actors’ acting and expressions to the background art), and was a joy to watch from start to finish.
I think this is a movie that will make you cry and laugh together with Akane, and leave the theater feeling happy at the end.

My Love Story with Yamada-kun at Lv999 (Japanese Name: Yamada-kun to Lv999 no Koi wo Suru) is a Japanese manga written and illustrated by Mashiro. It was serialized in March 2019 in Comic Smart’s Ganma! manga website. There are a total of 9 Volumes in this manga as of April 2024.
This manga later recieved an anime adaptation by Studio Madhouse which was released on April 2023. A live action movie is officially announced and is set to release on March 28, 2025.
